Designed by Andree Weissert for TECTA, the M36-1 is inspired by the structural engineering of a U-Bahn viaduct in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. The design mirrors the bridge’s load-bearing struts and braces, which are engineered to absorb dynamic stresses and integrate them into a cohesive, self-contained unit. Weissert developed the tubular frame through direct observation and collaboration within the TECTA factory, translating complex architectural infrastructure into a functional furniture form.
The piece is manufactured by TECTA, a German brand dedicated since 1972 to the authentic reproduction and modern reinterpretation of Bauhaus furniture. By continuing the legacy of masters such as Marcel Breuer and Walter Gropius, TECTA carries the Bauhaus philosophy of functionalism and technical precision into the present day.

Due to the natural characteristics of the wood, each piece features unique variations in colour, grain, and knots, which should be appreciated as a distinct quality of the limited natural material used.
