“I always want to learn something new.”

Nic’s a photographer. Charlotte’s a set builder. Out the back, a converted garage now serves as Charlotte’s studio—where she builds props and paints backdrops for shoots. Their home is built around their creative work. Let’s step inside and see how they live.

“Work–life balance? We’re still figuring it out.”
Their weeks vary depending on their shooting schedule—some are full-on, others more relaxed. Even when things get hectic, they make time to enjoy life at home: editing in peace, having lunch in the sunroom, or cooking with fresh veg and herbs from their garden.
On this visit, Nic treated us to a zucchini and mozzarella pizza from their backyard oven—one of his go-to ways to unwind.

“Our home is where we work, cook, grow, and rest.”
The house wraps around their shared office in a gentle horseshoe layout, making it easy to move between spaces. Each room has its own tone and a spot to sit, so they can shift the mood as they go.

“The angle of the sun changes the photos you take.”
Light plays a big role in Nic’s work. Whether he’s shooting landscapes in Tassie or interiors around Sydney, he’s always tuned in to how the light moves. At home, the north-facing sunroom is one of their favourite places to spend time.

Charlotte’s creativity is dotted throughout the home—from the hand-sewn curtains to a cheeky painting of Nic and their cat, Soda.
“I always want to learn something new.”
She spends a good chunk of her time in the studio and hopes to try her hand at woodworking—or even metalwork—one day.

Their home is creative, personal, and designed to fit their pace.

What inspiration will you take from their world?
